Position Overview
We are currently looking for a dedicated full-time Flagger/Labourer to enhance traffic safety for our line and splicing teams along with the general public during telecom network construction activities. This role is crucial for orchestrating traffic flow, enforcing safety guidelines, and assisting construction operations. The position involves outdoor work with regular rotational travel to various project locations, including Monday to Friday or a 19/9 rotation. Travel arrangements, accommodations, and a daily per diem will be provided by the company for rotational work assignments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Comply with all organizational safety policies and procedures.
- Manage and direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic to maintain safety and order.
- Install and sustain traffic control devices at work sites.
- Execute detours and closure of lanes when necessary.
- Maintain clear communication with team members and line/splicing crews.
- Ensure enforcement of safety standards and protocols.
- Respond efficiently to emergencies and incidents on site.
- Keep precise records of daily activities and any incidents encountered.
- Operate and drive company vehicles responsibly.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to perform efficiently in fast-moving work environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and high situational awareness.
- Comfort with working outdoors in various weather conditions and standing for lengthy durations.
- Valid or willingness to obtain traffic control certification.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Adaptability to work in confined spaces, isolated conditions, and physically demanding environments, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment such as ladders, manhole covers, and cable reels.
- Dedicated to upholding health and safety standards robustly.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, well-organized, and cooperative as a team player.
- Ability to handle repetitive tasks under tight timelines.
Additional Candidate Requirements
- Completion of high school or its equivalent.
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clean record.
- Possess or be willing to acquire an Airbrakes endorsement.
- Availability to work rotational shifts, including overtime, weekends, and emergency call outs as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel, with company-sponsored travel, lodging, and per diem provided during rotations.
- Mandatory successful completion of a criminal background check.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in manual labor roles.
- Experience operating company vehicles is advantageous.
- Training or certification in Traffic Control is beneficial but not compulsory.
- Prior experience in line technician or similar telecommunications field roles is highly valued.

- Hourly wages ranging from 19 to 21 Canadian dollars, based on experience and skills.
