Job description

Role overview

Kirk Roberts Consulting is looking for an experienced Architectural Designer or Architectural Technician to join the Christchurch team on a fixed-term contract of three months initially. The position suits someone who can start right away, step into a large commercial project without delay, and produce work to a high standard within tight project deadlines.

What you will do

  • Produce concept, resource consent, and detailed design drawing sets.
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate Revit models and associated project files.
  • Support collaborative Workshare modelling processes.
  • Coordinate closely with internal colleagues and external project stakeholders.
  • Make sure all drawings and documentation align with project standards and QA requirements.
  • Read and interpret project briefs and design instructions correctly.

What we are looking for

This role needs someone who can contribute from day one and help deliver the project successfully. You should bring solid local experience, strong technical capability in Revit, and the confidence to work across documentation and coordination tasks in a commercial setting.

  • At least 3 years of experience working as an Architectural Designer or Architectural Technician.
  • Previous experience in the New Zealand architectural sector is essential.
  • Advanced Revit proficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with Revit and Workshare/collaborative modelling.
  • Background in commercial projects and/or high-end residential work.
  • Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and approval processes.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on accurate documentation.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Capability to prioritise tasks and meet project schedules.

What the employer offers

You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, with the chance to contribute to an important commercial development from the outset.
