First Officer - A320 (UAE National)

Role Overview

The First Officer is responsible for safely conducting flights in line with the Airline Operational Manual and relevant civil aviation regulations, prioritizing safety, security, and efficiency throughout all flights. This position involves leading and supporting the flight and cabin crew, effectively managing emergencies and unexpected situations, and ensuring the flight's successful completion while maintaining a positive corporate reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the assigned aircraft as per flight schedules and approved plans, holding ultimate accountability for the aircraft during flights, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
• Comply with all procedures detailed in the Airline Operations Manual and regulatory standards to ensure safe and smooth flight operations.
• Attend punctually, maintain professional grooming, ensure fitness and legal requirements are met for self and crew, and conduct thorough pre-flight briefings to keep team members informed of all flight details.
• Coordinate with co-pilots and the Dispatch Team before flights to ensure crew readiness and information sharing, including aircraft status, weather, route, fuel, role assignments, etc.
• Optimize fuel usage during flights within safety constraints.
• Oversee safety, security, fuel, and transit inspections before, during, and after flights, guiding crew responses and escalating issues as necessary.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Engineers to verify aircraft airworthiness, and coordinate with Maintenance Control Centers and Repair Organizations to address technical issues promptly.
• Ensure accurate completion and management of all required documents and technical logs, complying with airline and civil aviation regulations.
• Maintain and uphold the Airline Operations Manual's distribution, currency, comprehension, and compliance among flight crews.
• Stay informed about regulatory requirements from civil aviation authorities, Airbus, and other relevant bodies impacting flights and crew operations.
• Perform assigned ground-level duties such as Safety Officer or Security Officer in accordance with airline procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

• Valid ATPL license is mandatory.
• Successful completion of technical and psychometric assessments aligned with airline and civil aviation standards.
• Medical fitness certification as per required standards for pilots.
• Essential training in safety and emergency response; formal qualifications are advantageous.
• Training in airport security procedures and crew resource management is beneficial.
• Knowledge of IATA security principles is a plus.
• Proficiency with aircraft systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in technical reporting and presentations.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of other local languages is an asset.

Experience

• Minimum 4000 flight hours; Airbus A320 experience preferred.
• Experience in low-cost carriers is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of aircraft systems and operating procedures.
• Capability to perform additional safety, security, or related roles as required by regulations.
• Familiarity with quality assurance, safety, security, and audit procedures relevant to flight operations.
• Adept at applying policies, procedures, and manuals consistent with standards and regulations.
• Ability to adapt to high-pressure environments with variable workloads and unexpected scenarios.
• Calm, confident, and focused under pressure, capable of efficient emergency management.
• Analytical skills to interpret data, identify weaknesses, and recommend cost-efficient solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with a focus on cost-effectiveness.
