Role Overview

The Firefighter – ARFF position entails prompt and efficient response to emergencies on airport grounds, including aircraft and structural fires, medical crises, and hazardous material incidents. The incumbent plays a vital role in safeguarding passengers, crew, and staff by executing firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • React swiftly to aircraft emergencies, building fires, medical events, and hazardous material incidents within the airport premises.
  • Conduct firefighting activities using water, foam, dry chemicals, and other agents to suppress fires effectively.
  • Carry out search and rescue missions in smoke-obscured or hazardous settings.
  • Administer first aid and basic life support to injured or ill persons until advanced medical teams arrive.
  • Facilitate patient transport to healthcare facilities when necessary.
  • Perform daily checks and upkeep of firefighting vehicles, extinguishers, and personal protective gear.
  • Ensure firefighting equipment and supplies are stocked and operationally ready.
  • Engage in regular emergency drills, ICAO-compliant training sessions, and simulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records including incident reports, training documentation, and shift logs for compliance audits.
  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures related to firefighting and emergency operations.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards during patrols and inspections promptly.
  • File accurate equipment logs and incident documentation as required.
  • Coordinate with internal teams such as Duty Manager, Airport Operations, Security, Emergency Medical Services, Engineering, and HSE departments.
  • Collaborate with external agencies including local fire services, airlines, ground handlers, equipment providers, insurance representatives, community leaders, and civil aviation authorities during incidents and drills.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a Diploma in Fire Fighting Technology or an equivalent credential.
  • Certification obtained from a recognized firefighting academy is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in firefighting, with a preference for background in Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF).
