Fire Investigator (Forensic Investigations)

Role overview

S-E-A is seeking a Fire Investigator to join its forensic engineering team in a full-time capacity. This position is suited to someone with prior private-sector fire investigation experience who wants to contribute to a stable, employee-focused organization. Initial training must be completed on-site full time to build relationships and establish the role; after that, a hybrid-flex arrangement may be available.

Core responsibilities

• Examine structural and vehicle fire incidents across a wide range of cases.
• Determine fire origin and cause through现场 visits and the application of scientific methods and industry standards to damaged property or vehicles.
• Carry out objective investigations for multiple client types.
• Help maintain and grow client relationships.
• Explain technical findings and conclusions clearly in both spoken and written form for non-technical audiences.
• Make professional presentations, build rapport with client groups, and represent the company effectively.
• Back up conclusions with appropriate testimony during legal proceedings.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or a similar discipline is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in private-sector fire investigation is required.
• You must already hold IAAI-CFI certification, or be able to obtain it quickly.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 921 is necessary.
• Strong speaking and writing abilities are essential.
• Experience with public speaking is an added advantage.
• Excellent people skills and clear communication are important.
• You should maintain consistent, dependable attendance.
• Ability to accept feedback and apply it constructively to performance.

Physical requirements

• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Capability to remove large or heavy items from fire scenes.
• Must be able to carry tools and equipment such as shovels, cameras, and evidence cases up and down stairs.
• Ability to shovel fire debris and move material during investigations for periods of 3 to 4 hours at a time.
• Comfort moving through buildings and structures, including climbing ladders.
• Ability to travel by car to site locations and fly when needed.
