Job description

Role overview

The Financial Research Assistant / Research Assistant (Finance) supports financial analysis, market research, and data-led reporting to help with investment evaluation, business planning, and strategic decisions. The position is focused on collecting, structuring, and interpreting financial and economic information so that the team can generate precise, timely, and practical insights.

Core responsibilities

You will gather information from sources such as financial statements, company filings, market databases, economic publications, regulatory releases, and industry reports. You will also review, clean, organize, and maintain research datasets while protecting data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

The role includes carrying out both quantitative and qualitative research on companies, sectors, financial markets, and broader economic trends. Work may involve studying company performance, reviewing important financial ratios, comparing peers, spotting market patterns, and contributing to valuation, forecasting, and risk analysis where needed.

In addition, you will prepare research reports, financial summaries, investment notes, dashboards, presentations, and related documents that present findings in a clear, structured, and professional way. You will also keep track of financial news, market movements, economic indicators, and regulatory changes so that outputs stay relevant and up to date.

Close coordination with analysts, finance professionals, investment teams, and other stakeholders is part of the job. You will contribute to research projects, help improve analytical workflows, support database upkeep, and assist in improving data quality and research efficiency.

Qualifications and skills

The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of financial markets, corporate finance, financial statement analysis, investment fundamentals, economic analysis, and business research methods. You should be able to read financial information and draw out useful patterns and insights.

Strong proficiency in spreadsheets, financial modeling, data analysis, financial reporting tools, and business intelligence platforms is expected. Exposure to financial databases, visualization tools, and research software will be helpful.

You should bring strong analytical and quantitative ability, sound problem-solving skills, and the discipline to work with large datasets while producing accurate research outputs. Knowledge of valuation techniques, ratio analysis, forecasting, benchmarking, market intelligence, portfolio analysis, and risk concepts is an added advantage.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important, along with the ability to create professional reports, presentations, and supporting documents for different stakeholders. Strong organization, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage several assignments in a deadline-driven, collaborative setting are also essential.
