About the Organization

Role Overview

This full-time position based on-site in Harlingen, TX, leads the district's financial planning activities including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy. The manager guides the preparation and review of financial reports, tracks actual versus budgeted outcomes, develops models for assessing initiatives, and identifies key financial trends, risks, and opportunities. Collaboration with school and department leaders ensures financial resources align with educational goals, compliance with district policies and regulations is maintained, and financial management practices are continuously improved. The role also involves presenting financial insights clearly to leadership teams.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to back strategic decision-making.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and financial modeling proficiency to analyze data, create scenarios, and deliver actionable insights.
  • Experience managing budgets and forecasts, including annual budgeting, multi-year projections, and variance analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related field; master’s degree or CPA/CFA certification considered advantageous.
  • Proficiency with financial software and Microsoft Excel, effective communication skills, detail orientation, and ability to collaborate with stakeholders without financial backgrounds.
  • Preferably experience in public sector finance, particularly within education or school districts, along with understanding of relevant state and local funding regulations.
