Job Overview
This position is a 12-month contract role covering maternity leave, based in the Financial District of New York or Iselin, New Jersey. The role requires working onsite two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Document results and supporting evidence from transaction monitoring alerts.
- Carry out quality assurance activities to maintain ongoing audit readiness.
- Assist the Financial Crime Compliance 2nd Line Director with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions day-to-day monitoring and investigations, including reviewing and challenging 1st line activities.
- Support and improve the AML compliance framework focusing on data analytics, data mining, and IT support tasks involving Excel, Microstrategy, and other IT projects.
- Strengthen control procedures for tracking operational tasks.
- Implement process improvements consistently to meet set objectives and deadlines.
- Contribute to executing the AML compliance program by performing 314A searches and dispositioning monthly transaction monitoring alerts.
- Create metrics and analyze investigation-related data for ongoing monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Generate data reports and spreadsheets based on detailed criteria, advancing to more complex reporting such as customer profiles, growth analysis by region and currency, and grouping by counterparty types.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or university degree with over three years of professional experience in BSA/AML Compliance within banking or financial services sectors.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) accreditation or willingness to obtain certification within six months of employment.
- Proven expertise in BSA, AML, and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance domains.
- Experience in the design, testing, and implementation of compliance applications.
- Knowledge of payment systems and foreign exchange markets.
- Capability to handle urgent tasks efficiently under timeline pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication competencies.
- A self-motivated individual with capability to work independently and proactively resolve issues.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to learning and success.
