Job description

Role Overview

Dawn Aerospace designs and builds space propulsion and space transportation technologies, with operations spanning New Zealand, Europe, and the United States. As the company expands internationally, the finance team is seeking a Financial Accountant to help with statutory reporting, group consolidation, budgeting, and ongoing process enhancements across a multi-entity structure.

This is a practical, hands-on position for someone who enjoys solving problems, refining systems, and partnering with operational teams in a fast-paced, technically complex environment. The role is based in the Christchurch office in New Zealand.

What You Will Do

You will support core finance activities and business operations, bringing greater structure, accuracy, and clarity to an engineering-led organisation that moves quickly.

The role covers month-end and year-end close activities, consolidation across entities, budgeting support, and identifying ways to strengthen finance processes and systems.

You will also work closely with engineering, operations, and commercial teams to turn financial data into useful business insight.

Key Responsibilities

Financial reporting and control

  • Complete month-end and year-end close activities accurately and on time
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports in line with IFRS
  • Assist with consolidation across several international entities
  • Maintain solid internal controls and disciplined reporting practices

Planning and analysis

  • Support budgeting and forecasting work
  • Review financial results and share practical insights
  • Spot risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve

Systems and process improvement

  • Work within ERP-based finance processes and help make them better
  • Improve the efficiency of reporting and financial workflows
  • Create and maintain strong Excel-based models and analyses

Collaboration

  • Partner closely with non-finance teams across the business
  • Explain financial information clearly and in a practical way
  • Help foster a collaborative, low-ego team culture

About You

  • You are CA qualified, or working toward CA qualification
  • You likely have around 4 to 5 years of experience, ideally from a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting background
  • You have a strong foundation in financial accounting and IFRS
  • You have worked in month-end, year-end, and multi-entity environments
  • You have exposure to budgeting and forecasting processes
  • You are confident using Excel and working with ERP systems
  • You are comfortable in a changing environment where priorities can shift
  • You are detail-focused, practical, and able to balance accuracy with speed
  • You bring a good sense of humour and a willingness to roll up your sleeves

Why This Role Could Be a Great Fit

This position offers the chance to work inside a globally operating aerospace company where finance is closely connected to engineering, manufacturing, and day-to-day operational decisions.

Instead of being limited to a narrow corporate function, you will gain wide exposure to reporting, systems, operations, and international business activities in a highly technical setting.

If you enjoy ownership, problem-solving, and collaborating with sharp people tackling complex challenges, this could be a strong match.

Diversity and Inclusion

Dawn Aerospace says that diverse teams create better outcomes. The company is committed to building an inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences are respected and supported to do their best work.

About Dawn Aerospace

Dawn Aerospace is a space transportation company with a mission to make access to space more sustainable and scalable. The business believes a transportation network in space will fundamentally expand what is possible there.

The company currently focuses on three areas:

  • In-space propulsion: Dawn supplies turnkey green propulsion systems for different classes of satellites. These systems use safe, accessible propellants, with more than 170 units already operating on over 40 satellites and another 200 units currently being manufactured.
  • In-space servicing: Building on its propulsion expertise, the company is working toward satellite refuelling so customers can extend satellite life in the years ahead. This future service supports the goal of keeping space clean and safe.
  • Spaceplane: Dawn is developing a runway-launched aircraft designed to become the fastest and highest-flying aircraft of its kind, combining rocket propulsion performance with the reusability of conventional airplanes for frequent, lower-cost access to sub-orbital space.

The company’s teams are spread across four locations: the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, and the USA.

Additional Information

If you feel you are a strong fit but do not meet every listed requirement, the company still encourages you to apply.

Recruitment Agency Note

Dawn Aerospace does not accept resumes from recruitment agencies. The company asks agencies not to send resumes to its job alias, employees, or any other office location, and it will not pay fees for unsolicited resumes.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
