Job description
Role overview
United Exports is hiring a focused and proactive Financial Accountant to join its Finance team in Perth. This role goes beyond standard reporting work: it involves close collaboration with operations, contributing to business decisions, and supporting a growing, purpose-driven organisation with a strong footprint across Western Australia.
The position suits someone who enjoys a practical, fast-paced setting where priorities shift often and the work blends technical accounting with broader commercial exposure.
Key performance areas
- Produce financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Keep the general ledger accurate by reviewing and approving journal entries.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and track stock movements across multiple sites.
- Make sure inventory and budget-related adjustments are recorded correctly.
- Check general ledger allocations and determine whether provisions or accruals are required.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and process monthly depreciation runs.
- Work with farm teams on-site to verify stock counts.
- Prepare dashboard-style reports and support Treasury with cash flow analysis.
- Assist with BAS, ATO submissions, and external audit activities.
- Look into unresolved purchase orders and system mismatches.
- Review and authorise creditor payments before release.
- Handle foreign currency transactions and related balance checks.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required.
- CA or CPA accreditation is preferred, or you may be actively working toward one.
- At least 3 years of experience in financial accounting or a similar position is needed.
- A current Australian driver’s licence is required.
- You must be open to travelling to farm locations across Western Australia for day trips.
- The role is split between the Perth office and on-site work at farms within reasonable day-travel distance.
Technical strengths
- Solid knowledge of financial reporting, compliance obligations, and core accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel capability and practical experience using ERP platforms; NetSuite experience is an advantage.
- Comfort working across complex, multi-location environments; experience in agribusiness is beneficial.
- Strong precision and analytical thinking.
Ways of working
- You communicate effectively and build productive relationships across teams.
- You take accountability, stay well organised, and meet deadlines reliably.
- You act with integrity, professionalism, and good judgement.
- You are self-motivated and comfortable in a changing, dynamic environment.
Why this role may appeal
- Contribute to a business with meaningful impact in a growing sector.
- Work closely with operations and see the practical results of your work.
- Gain exposure across several sites while building both technical and commercial capability.
- Join a collaborative team culture that values accountability, partnership, and ongoing improvement.
- Enjoy a role with variety, autonomy, and real responsibility.
Eligibility
Only Australian residents with full working rights will be considered.
