Role overview
MONEYME is seeking a commercially aware Financial Accountant who is comfortable working with AI and wants a role that goes beyond conventional accounting. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
The position sits in a fintech environment where finance teams are modernising their ways of working. You will collaborate with senior leaders to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and integrate AI into everyday finance operations. Candidates who already use tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot to improve productivity are especially encouraged to apply.
Financial reporting and analysis
- Prepare reporting packs on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Complete reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis accurately.
- Use AI-enabled tools to accelerate commentary, analysis, and management reporting materials.
AI and process improvement
- Bring AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot into real finance workflows.
- Spot repetitive or manual tasks and help design better ways to handle them.
- Contribute to finance process modernisation through automation and digital solutions.
- Share prompts, workflows, and practical ideas that lift team efficiency.
General ledger and core accounting
- Take ownership of journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Use AI-assisted approaches to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
- Support smarter operating methods through automation and process enhancement.
- Contribute to building a more modern, insight-led finance function.
Audit, risk, and projects
- Assist with external audits and compliance obligations.
- Support finance transformation work, system upgrades, and new initiatives.
- Work with wider business teams to provide reporting and commercial insight.
What the company is looking for
- 2 to 4 years of experience in financial accounting.
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently working toward qualification.
- Strong technical accounting capability, with AASB exposure preferred.
- Advanced Excel ability and experience with ERP systems; NetSuite is highly regarded.
- Practical experience using AI tools in work, study, or personal projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus a proactive approach.
- A curious, adaptable person who is motivated by improving finance operations.
