Financial Accountant

About the Role

A reputable consumer retail company based in Bingley is seeking to expand its finance team by hiring a part- or newly qualified Financial Accountant. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing or recently completed ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualifications who have solid experience in financial accounting and desire to work within a complex, multi-channel retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and record month-end journal entries, including accruals and prepayments.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unresolved discrepancies.
• Assist with the creation of monthly management and financial reports.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and aid in year-end audit processes.
• Compile VAT returns and other necessary regulatory filings.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and assist with capital expenditure reporting.
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting-related queries.
• Identify and suggest improvements for financial controls, reporting methods, and accounting procedures.
• Participate in various finance projects and provide team coverage as needed.

Candidate Profile

• Currently studying for or recently qualified in ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
• Experience in financial accounting, management accounting, or as an assistant accountant.
• Solid knowledge of month-end closing processes and balance sheet control mechanisms.
• Proficient in managing and analyzing substantial financial datasets.
• Advanced Excel capabilities and quick adaptability to new software systems.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to adhere to reporting deadlines.
• Effective communicator capable of working across finance and other business units.
