The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority protects and manages one of Australia’s best-known coastal regions. Its work covers parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including visitor destinations recognised internationally. The Authority partners with Traditional Owners, local communities and other stakeholders to safeguard environmental, cultural and heritage values while also supporting sustainable tourism and long-term conservation.
About the role
The Authority is hiring a Finance Officer - Revenue to join the Finance team in Torquay. This position reports to the Senior Accountant and plays an important part in the organisation’s accounting operations, with emphasis on revenue administration, accounts receivable, bank and account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
This opportunity suits a finance professional who values precision, strong service standards and ongoing improvement, and who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment. Although the position is listed as full time, the Authority is open to discussing a flexible arrangement of 0.8 FTE over five days each week for the right candidate.
Key duties
- Match bank transactions, including caravan park accounts, against records in the RMS Cloud booking platform.
- Manage accounts receivable tasks and ensure incoming payments are captured and allocated correctly.
- Prepare and issue invoices promptly and accurately.
- Share daily banking updates with operational teams.
- Handle park refund processing and make sure entries are recorded correctly.
- Carry out month-end tasks such as journals, reconciliations and reporting.
- Review and resolve payment issues, discrepancies and queries.
- Keep finance procedures and supporting documentation current and improved.
- Offer guidance to staff on financial processes and procedures.
- Assist with audit activities and help maintain compliance with controls and internal policies.
- Support improvement initiatives within the Finance function.
What you will need
- A qualification in Business, Finance or Accounting is preferred.
- Background in a finance, accounts receivable or revenue-related position.
- Strong skills in reconciliation, financial processing and administration.
- Experience with accounting software and finance systems.
- Good organisational ability and the capacity to juggle competing priorities.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A cooperative approach and a willingness to contribute to a high-performing team.
Desirable experience
- Exposure to accommodation, tourism or hospitality environments.
- Familiarity with RMS Cloud or a similar reservation/booking system.
