Role overview
PwC New Zealand is looking for an Associate-level Analyst to join its Finance, Economics and Analytics team within Consulting in Auckland. The role is focused on turning financial, economic, and commercial data into practical advice that helps clients solve complex business challenges and make better decisions.
The team works across a wide mix of industries and contributes to assignments such as financial modelling, business case development, feasibility assessments, valuation work, strategic option analysis, investment strategy, transaction support, economic analysis, and other commercial advisory tasks.
What you'll do
- Support consulting engagements across different sectors by delivering research, analysis, financial insight, economic advice, and industry perspectives tailored to client needs.
- Carry out cost-benefit assessments, forecasting, valuation work, economic impact studies, and policy-related analysis.
- Use financial and economic models, forecasting methods, and statistical analysis to build clear, well-supported recommendations.
- Coach, guide, and oversee junior team members while encouraging learning and development.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
What you should bring
- At least 2 years of experience in corporate, government, or consulting environments, with exposure to economic, financial, or commercial analysis across a range of industries.
- Hands-on experience with complex financial or economic work.
- Strong command of Excel at an advanced level.
- A qualification in finance or economics is preferred, and postgraduate study is an advantage.
- A sharp analytical mindset and interest in understanding client businesses and the challenges they face.
- Strong problem-solving ability, commercial judgment, and strategic thinking.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
