Job description

About Monzo

Monzo’s purpose is to make money easier to manage for everyone. The company has moved away from the complexity of traditional banking and, over the past decade in the UK, has expanded from a prepaid card into a broader financial services business. Its offerings now include personal and business current accounts, joint accounts, accounts for 16–17-year-olds, a free kids account, credit cards, savings, investments, and pension consolidation. Monzo also aims to create memorable customer experiences through features such as hot coral cards, early salary access, financial education on social media, and highly rated customer support.

The business is focused on solving customer problems rather than simply selling products, with the goal of improving people’s financial lives.

Role overview

Monzo is hiring a Finance Business Partner for its European entity in Dublin. This role will help shape and manage forecasting, support growth, and ensure financial planning is aligned with safe, compliant expansion. You will work closely with teams across the business and provide clear financial insight to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Own forecasting and analysis across several business areas.
  • Take responsibility for annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and multi-year planning for the assigned areas.
  • Prepare management reporting, business insights, and performance updates for senior leadership, including emerging risks and future challenges.
  • Support the design and delivery of strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Work independently to build relationships across functions and help teams understand financial implications.
  • Use financial expertise to improve commercial performance through accurate analysis and practical recommendations.
  • Ensure financial plans and actuals remain aligned with both short-term and long-term business objectives.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the banking or fintech sector is essential.
  • Proven background in finance business partnering.
  • Either an accountancy qualification or equivalent experience gained over time.
  • Strong financial modelling skills, with advanced use of Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, including spotting trends and recommending action.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and secure buy-in.
  • Ability to present data clearly and tailor communication to the audience’s needs.
  • Experience building trusted relationships with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Experience developing business cases and discussing investment decisions.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to support colleagues, projects, and tasks of all sizes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation, and an ability to improve and streamline processes.
  • Practical experience with SQL, data analysis, and forecasting tools.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Benefits

  • Annual salary of €70,000 to €87,000.
  • Incentive awards linked to individual performance.
  • Hybrid working pattern based in the Dublin office 2 to 3 days per week.
  • Flexible working hours, with trust placed in employees to manage their time effectively.
  • 34 days of annual leave, including public holidays.
  • €1,200 annual learning budget for books, training, and conferences.
  • Private healthcare coverage.
  • Pension support with a 4% minimum employee contribution and employer matching of additional contributions up to 6%.
  • Wellbeing support covering financial education, women’s and men’s health, mental health coaching, and counselling.

Application process

The hiring process includes three stages: an introductory video call with a recruiter, an initial video call with the hiring manager, and two technical and behavioural video interviews. The process is expected to take around 3 to 4 weeks, and the company aims to remain flexible with scheduling.

Equal opportunity and inclusion

Monzo is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. All applicants are considered without discrimination based on age, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran status, neurodiversity, or disability status. Applicants may use a preferred name when applying.

Additional information

The company encourages people who do not meet every requirement to still apply, particularly those who may hesitate despite being capable of growing into the role. The role will remain open until enough applications are received for the next stage, so early applications are encouraged.
