Job description
Role overview
Vertical Institute is Singapore’s leading AI training provider, and this position is designed for someone who can turn financial analysis into commercial decisions. The role sits at the crossroads of finance, strategy, and business operations, and reports to the Head of Finance while working closely with the CEO and functional leaders.
The company has already trained more than 50,000 professionals through consumer and enterprise programmes. As the business scales, it needs sharper financial insight on programme profitability, acquisition economics, channel returns, resource allocation, and where to invest next. This role is responsible for building that analytical foundation and bringing finance into the room before key decisions are made.
Candidates with experience in Big Four Deals Advisory, Transaction Services, Valuations, Corporate Finance, or Management Consulting are especially encouraged to apply if they want to move into a hands-on operational finance role with strong commercial exposure.
Key responsibilities
- Work alongside leaders in marketing, sales, operations, and product to provide analysis that improves decision-making rather than simply reporting historical results.
- Question assumptions, highlight trade-offs, and bring a financial lens to pricing, investment choices, and resource allocation.
- Support new programme launches and growth initiatives through practical financial modelling tied to actual business drivers.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by contributing early in the decision process.
- Own the annual budget cycle and maintain rolling forecasts in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Track actual performance against budget, identify risks early, and separate meaningful issues from normal variation.
- Contribute to long-term planning and scenario analysis that gives leadership clear visibility into future performance.
- Assess programme profitability, learner acquisition cost, cohort economics, and marketing return on investment.
- Compare performance across products, channels, and customer groups to understand where growth is genuine and where it is being subsidised.
- Create KPI dashboards and reporting tools that give management timely access to important business metrics.
- Work with marketing and sales teams on funnel analysis and conversion performance to connect commercial activity with financial outcomes.
- Monitor costs with department heads to keep spending aligned to budgets and business priorities.
- Support procurement and supplier evaluation using financial analysis and benchmarking.
- Prepare monthly business review materials and management presentations for senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- A degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, Business, or a similar field.
- 4 to 8 years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, transaction services, consulting, or business partnering, with evidence that your analysis has influenced real business outcomes.
- Strong capability in financial modelling and forecasting, with models built for decision-makers rather than static analysis files.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Hands-on experience with dashboarding or BI tools such as Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar platforms is an advantage.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to understand the business story behind the numbers.
- Confident communication skills for working with senior stakeholders, including presenting insights, responding to challenges, and contributing to commercial discussions.
- Experience in education, SaaS, technology, or other fast-growing businesses is a plus.
Why this role stands out
- You will have direct exposure to the CEO and Head of Finance, with your work influencing top-level decisions.
- The commercial analytics stack is still being built, giving you the opportunity to create forecasting models, dashboards, and unit economics frameworks from the ground up.
- The role offers broad exposure across revenue strategy, programme economics, acquisition performance, and growth planning in a multi-stream business.
- It is a strong platform for someone aiming for future senior finance leadership.
- The office is centrally located at the Lifelong Learning Institute in Paya Lebar.
