Field Service Technician - Resident (Alice Springs)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician based in Alice Springs, NT, on a permanent basis. In this embedded position, you will independently deliver breakdown and scheduled maintenance services to clients, focusing on engine maintenance and repairs within mining applications. Reporting to the Darwin Branch Manager, you will operate as the sole employee on site while collaborating with a wider regional and virtual team.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with customers courteously and professionally ensuring prompt service to their needs.
• Utilize specialized tools and adhere to established procedures to diagnose and complete straightforward repairs, including preparation of necessary parts and tools.
• Provide coaching to customer employees on preventative maintenance and basic repair tasks.
• Refer unresolved technical issues to more experienced technicians or supervisors.
• Accurately complete documentation such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality records through manual or digital systems.
• Undertake training aligned with business and skill requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper function of work areas and tools.
• Follow all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, reporting incidents or issues promptly.

Additional Information

• Full-time position with a 38-hour workweek; overtime paid at penalty rates.

Experience and Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship as an Engine Technician (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Extensive workshop or field service experience is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of power generation and/or engine products.
• Certification in Heavy Vehicle or Mobile Plant operation required.
• Previous experience with Cummins products is highly favored.
• Mechanical experience in power generation is desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience working in remote field service is a strong advantage.
