Role Summary

The Field Officer will lead client engagement activities including mobilization and loan appraisals, assist in loan disbursement, monitor repayments, and ensure the maintenance of a robust loan portfolio. This role demands extensive on-field presence, active interaction with community stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with credit policies and regulatory requirements to foster responsible lending and portfolio expansion.

Primary Responsibilities

• Identify and recruit prospective clients within assigned regions through education and outreach.
• Facilitate formation and training of groups for group lending programs.
• Promote various financial products such as loans and savings accounts.
• Establish strong relationships with community leaders and local networks.
• Conduct thorough loan evaluations including business and household visits, and cash flow assessments.
• Confirm client data accuracy, guarantee arrangements, collateral, and assess commercial viability.
• Develop comprehensive appraisal reports and ensure clients comprehend the terms and obligations of loans.
• Assist in compliant and timely loan disbursement processes.
• Oversee repayment monitoring via field visits and meetings, actively pursuing overdue payments.
• Maintain high portfolio quality by minimizing delays and default risk, proactively managing Portfolio at Risk (PAR).
• Deliver basic financial literacy and business advisory services to clients.
• Manage client inquiries and complaints professionally to uphold a positive institutional reputation.
• Prepare and submit detailed daily, weekly, and monthly field and portfolio reports.
• Ensure accurate client record keeping and data entry into systems.
• Strictly follow internal credit policies and regulatory standards.
• Promptly report any indications of fraud, misrepresentation, or operational risks.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Microfinance, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Prior experience of 2 to 5 years in microfinance is preferred.
• Experience with field operations is essential; possessing motorcycle riding skills is advantageous.
