Overview
This role is designed for candidates to acquire hands-on experience in operating and managing plant equipment safely, adhering to established safety norms and operational standards. The focus lies on learning plant hazards, safety protocols, and the work permit system, all while maintaining high safety and operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor and control field equipment following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs), LLF checklists, and On-Demand Readings (ODR).
- Conduct condition monitoring using portable instruments; carry out minor troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
- Work in close coordination with shift superintendents and panel executives to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Collect field samples accurately and deliver them for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain precise logs and records pertaining to equipment and operations, ensuring timely updates.
- Identify and suggest safety enhancements to improve the overall safety environment.
- Handle hazardous materials and plant waste safely, complying with relevant protocols.
- Support and coordinate with contract workers to enforce safe working procedures.
- Follow and promote safe operating procedures within defined operational ranges.
- Serve as a first responder in emergencies, enabling prompt mitigation to safeguard personnel and equipment.
- Engage with safety engineers and other stakeholders to report, investigate, and manage safety concerns promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams including field executives and engineers to facilitate uninterrupted plant activities.
- Communicate and coordinate with contractors to ensure task execution aligns with safety standards.
- Authorize permits after confirming hazard-free compliance and coordinate with safety authorities for process adherence.
- Proactively identify process improvements and stay updated on the latest safety guidelines, quality management methodologies (TQM, EFQM, QCC, 5S), and technical knowledge.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Mandatory: Diploma in relevant engineering discipline or BSc/MSc in Chemistry.
- Experience: 0 to 2 years, with familiarity of field locations and plant equipment.
- Desired Skills: Proficiency in On-Demand Reading devices, basic troubleshooting, minor maintenance, safety and emergency response skills, collaboration, hazard management, permit compliance, and continuous operational improvement.
Skills and Expected Outcomes
- Achieve at least 95% adherence to safety guidelines.
- Manage emergencies with a 100% success rate as a responder.
- Propose and implement a minimum of two safety improvements quarterly.
- Complete all equipment monitoring checks as per procedures.
- Contribute to waste reduction by suggesting and applying one improvement monthly related to chemical handling and waste management.
- Implement efficiency measures resulting in a 5% boost in equipment performance annually.
