Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Nairobi County, Kenya for immediate deployment. The role centres on fibre optic network work for both commercial and residential clients. Duties include installation, splicing, testing, maintenance, and fault-finding on fibre networks, along with reading network drawings, preparing fibre cables, supporting clients and teammates, and ensuring all work is completed to required safety and quality standards.

What the Job Involves

  • Install, splice, test, and maintain fibre optic systems.
  • Review network diagrams and use them to guide deployment work.
  • Prepare fibre cables and related materials for field installation.
  • Investigate and resolve connectivity and network performance issues.
  • Keep work compliant with safety rules and quality expectations.
  • Provide technical assistance to clients and colleagues when needed.
  • Record completed tasks and work progress accurately.
  • Coordinate with project leads so deployment schedules are met.
  • Support training of junior technicians where required.
  • Work alongside other technical teams on integrated service delivery.

Candidate Profile

The employer is recruiting for 18 positions, covering Technician/Fiber Splicer, Rigger (KPLC 14 certified), and 3 Handymen. Suitable applicants should be strong in troubleshooting, communication, and technical support, and should have practical exposure to fibre installation, splicing, testing equipment, and safe fieldwork. The role suits people who can manage time well, work on site in changing conditions, and contribute to deadline-driven projects. A technical certification or diploma in telecommunications, networking, or a related discipline is considered an advantage. Experience in fibre deployment or related field service work in Kenya or the region is also beneficial.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Valid Fire Marshal Certificate.
  • For Rigger applicants: Working at Height certification and KPLC 14 certification are also required.
