Role Overview

As a Family Liaison Officer at Witherslack Group, based in Tonbridge, you will play a vital role in connecting families experiencing challenges with the carers and local authorities supporting their children with complex needs. This position involves collaborative work to enhance life outcomes for children and families in educational and other difficult circumstances, primarily within a state-of-the-art special educational needs (SEN) school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work jointly with parents, young people, carers, and local authorities to understand circumstances and develop effective, collaborative solutions that support families.
  • Coordinate and conduct home visits to parents, providing direct support, coping strategies, and guidance tailored to individual situations.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of local community services to signpost families to appropriate additional resources and support mechanisms.
  • Organize and participate in admission interviews in collaboration with the Head Teacher, ensuring comprehensive inductions for new pupils and families.

About the Setting

You will be based at Hilden Park School, a specialized facility designed for children aged 8-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s, and Speech, Language, and Communication needs. This purpose-built, modern institution offers educational opportunities for up to 72 pupils and fosters outstanding individual progress and care.
