Role overview
The Fabric Sourcing Partner will create and deliver fabric solutions that are commercially strong and aligned with the brand’s product direction. The role requires balancing cost, speed, quality, innovation, and sustainability while working with Design, Buying, and Technical teams to secure the right fabrics from the right suppliers at the right price and within the right lead times.
Fabric sourcing and supplier management
- Find forward-looking fabrics that fit seasonal direction and commercial needs.
- Develop and maintain supplier partnerships with mills and fabric vendors across Turkey, China, India, and Bangladesh.
- Lead negotiations on price, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and delivery timelines to protect margin goals.
- Build a strong supplier base capable of supporting faster launches and higher-volume demand.
Product development
- Collaborate with Design and Buying to source fabrics that satisfy aesthetic, functional, and cost expectations.
- Suggest alternative fabric options that can improve margin, shorten lead time, or reduce environmental impact.
- Encourage innovation through new fabric developments, finishes, and manufacturing methods.
- Contribute to seasonal trend research through supplier visits, trade fairs, and market intelligence.
- Work with Technical teams to confirm that fabrics meet performance, testing, and compliance requirements.
- Increase the use of preferred lower-impact fibres and more sustainable fabric choices.
Cost and commercial management
- Achieve seasonal fabric cost targets through effective negotiation and sourcing strategy.
- Track changes in raw material pricing and share market updates with internal stakeholders.
- Look for opportunities to standardise fabrics and reduce duplication across teams.
- Support margin improvement through value engineering and supplier optimisation.
Critical path management
- Keep fabric developments moving in line with the critical path.
- Manage lab dips, developments, bulk submissions, and approvals.
- Act quickly to remove sourcing obstacles and limit production delays.
- Coordinate closely with mills and suppliers to support on-time delivery.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work day-to-day with Design, Buying, Technical, and Merchandising teams.
- Present fabric plans, seasonal developments, and supplier capabilities to internal stakeholders.
- Support sourcing trips and supplier visits when needed.
- Help promote a culture that supports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Working model
ASOS works with a hybrid-in-office rhythm for teams based in the office, with at least three days per week spent onsite. The company says this approach helps speed up decisions, improves learning from colleagues, and strengthens a culture where people can grow and succeed.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings significant experience in fabric sourcing within a fast-fashion or high-volume retail environment. Strong knowledge of jersey and knit construction is important, along with a well-developed network of global mills and suppliers. The role also calls for commercial negotiation ability, understanding of fabric testing and quality, and experience working with supply bases in the Far East, Turkey, and Europe. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, organisation, communication, stakeholder management, and critical path control are all essential. Familiarity with PLM, ERP, or sourcing systems is also expected.
Additional information
ASOS offers employee discounts, employee sample sales, 25 days of paid annual leave, plus an extra celebration day for a special occasion. The package also includes a discretionary bonus scheme, private medical care, a flexible benefits allowance that can be taken as cash or used for other benefits, and personalised learning opportunities to help employees develop and perform well.
