Role Description

The role involves managing the smooth and compliant transit of goods, including materials and equipment, across international borders following corporate policies and customs regulations.

Primary Duties

  • Assess cargo handling activities to ensure customs clearance is effective and efficient.
  • Register all imports from international suppliers in compliance with customs regulations.
  • Coordinate with clearing agents and brokers to ensure prompt shipment clearance and delivery to service locations.
  • Gather and verify all pertinent shipping and customs documents for port-received goods before processing.
  • Track and resolve parts-related discrepancies such as wrong, damaged, missing, or excess parts through the Sandvik LPS system, ensuring timely action.
  • Monitor all orders for SMC Ghana to guarantee timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery.
  • Strictly adhere to Sandvik’s policies, especially concerning safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ).
  • Undertake any additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing & Supply or a related discipline.
  • Partial certification from CIPS or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar logistics or cargo management role.
  • Experience in handling import logistics and cargo operations.
  • Familiarity with Aurora Software is beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and presentation communication abilities.
  • Ability to communicate in French is an advantage.
  • Capability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
