Job description

About the Role

We are establishing a new Museum for Waitaha Canterbury, envisioned as a premier venue to protect and present treasured artifacts and narrate the stories of our region and its people. As part of this redevelopment, there is an opening for a skilled exhibition specialist to contribute to the design, construction, and installation of innovative exhibits.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage directly in all phases of exhibition creation—conceptualizing designs, fabricating components, and overseeing installation within project teams to deliver high-quality displays that meet timelines.

Requirements and Skills

The ideal applicant will have verified experience in exhibition design and fabrication, a proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary projects, and a keen eye for detail ensuring deadlines are consistently met. A formal tertiary qualification in design is highly preferred alongside strong practical skills in fabrication techniques.

Additional Information

This position is a fixed-term contract spanning five years. To qualify, applications must be submitted in the required format including all requested details by 5:00 pm on Sunday, 19 July 2026, via email. For comprehensive instructions and further information, candidates are directed to visit the official museum website’s careers section.
