Job description

About the Company

This organization is a technology-focused enterprise working at the intersection of encryption, blockchain, artificial intelligence, distributed systems, and digital infrastructure for the new energy sector. Its work centers on cleaner energy, storage solutions, smart grid capabilities, and energy management platforms designed to improve security, coordination, and operational performance across energy systems.

Role Overview

The Executive Vice President, Energy Operations is a senior executive role responsible for directing the company’s full energy operations portfolio. The position covers power generation, renewable energy facilities, grid-related activities, and energy infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, efficiency, asset performance, and financial results.

This leader is expected to drive enterprise-wide operational excellence, large-scale transformation, digital adoption, automation, and decarbonization across the energy platform.

Key Responsibilities

Provide executive leadership for energy operations across multiple assets, plants, sites, or regions, and define strategy that aligns operating performance with business and financial goals.

Oversee generation and asset performance across conventional and renewable facilities, including thermal plants, natural gas assets, hydropower, wind, solar PV, and battery storage systems, while improving availability, output, and efficiency.

Lead reliability and operational excellence initiatives, including Lean practices, reliability-centered maintenance, KPI improvement, downtime reduction, and standardization of best practices.

Maintain strong safety, health, environmental, and regulatory compliance, including incident prevention, investigations, corrective actions, and adherence to ISO, EPA, OSHA, and sector-specific requirements.

Coordinate with grid, transmission, and distribution stakeholders to support dispatch, stability, renewable integration, and effective energy flow across distributed assets.

Manage budgets, operating expenses, maintenance spending, EBITDA contribution, lifecycle costs, and support CAPEX planning for upgrades and expansion.

Champion digital transformation in operations through SCADA, IoT monitoring, predictive maintenance, AI-based forecasting, digital twins, advanced analytics, and automation.

Own maintenance strategy across the portfolio, including preventive and predictive programs, outage management, refurbishment, and coordination with engineering teams on equipment improvements.

Support renewable integration, hybrid operating models, intermittency management, storage deployment, decarbonization goals, and ESG targets.

Represent operations in discussions with regulators, grid operators, and government bodies, while ensuring compliance with market rules, dispatch protocols, licensing, and permitting obligations.

Lead and develop senior operations leaders, build a high-performance culture, strengthen succession planning, and improve technical capability across the organization.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or other advanced degree in energy, engineering, or business is preferred.

The role calls for 15–20+ years of progressive experience in energy operations or power generation, including at least 10 years in senior executive leadership roles. Applicants should have substantial experience managing large-scale, multi-site or global energy operations and a strong background in utilities, power generation, or renewable energy.

Additional Information

The position is designed for leadership of safety-critical infrastructure and high-reliability operations. Experience with distributed operational networks, energy market interfaces, and large asset portfolios will be valuable.
