Role overview

Premier Inc. is seeking a highly trusted Executive Administrator to support the Chief Executive Officer. In this role, you will keep the CEO’s office running smoothly by handling executive-level administration, coordination, communications, travel, and follow-through. The position is designed for someone who can keep the CEO focused on strategic work, important relationships, and enterprise priorities while ensuring day-to-day operations stay organized and efficient.

You will also work closely with executive assistants and administrative leaders across the organization, including counterparts at member hospitals and strategic suppliers. By building strong relationships, communicating clearly, and following through reliably, you will help align busy executive calendars and create a seamless experience across a large and complex stakeholder network.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, quick to respond, comfortable in a fast-moving environment, and skilled at handling shifting priorities. Success in this role depends on discretion, attention to detail, strong judgment, and a proactive mindset that anticipates needs before they arise. Experience supporting a CEO and existing relationships with healthcare executive assistants are strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct administrative and coordination support to the Chief Executive Officer, President, and Chairman of the Board, including advanced calendar planning and prioritization.
  • Act as the main point of coordination for the CEO’s office, ensuring prompt communication, preparation, and follow-up for internal and external meetings and engagements.
  • Safeguard highly confidential and sensitive information with strong discretion and integrity.
  • Spot scheduling conflicts, gaps, and other issues in advance and resolve them quickly to keep operations on track.
  • Develop briefing packs, agendas, presentations, and background documents to support meetings, decisions, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Arrange logistics for board meetings, executive leadership sessions, strategic planning meetings, offsites, and external events as needed.
  • Draft, edit, and manage executive correspondence and other communications with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Organize travel and itineraries to ensure smooth and efficient trip planning.
  • Support expense tracking and processing, including accurate capture of billable expenses and compliance with policy.
  • Serve as a delegate or proxy for approvals, Workday tasks, vendor invoice processing, and similar administrative actions.
  • Prepare meeting packets, agendas, and follow-up notes or documentation.
  • Gather and organize information for conferences, speeches, and reports.
  • Partner with executive assistants across the enterprise to coordinate leadership calendars, initiatives, and special events.
  • Build productive working relationships with key executive assistants at member hospitals and supplier organizations to support executive collaboration and meeting execution.
  • Support special projects and company-wide initiatives.
  • Help improve the overall effectiveness of the CEO’s office by standardizing and refining administrative processes, meeting routines, and communication practices.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and coordination challenges, then implement practical solutions that improve responsiveness and accuracy.
  • Contribute tools, templates, and administrative best practices that strengthen collaboration across internal and external executive support teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in an administrative or executive support role.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong preference for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Substantial experience supporting C-suite executives, ideally in a complex, matrixed, or healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated success working with executive assistants, senior leaders, and external stakeholders in a polished professional setting.
  • Outstanding organizational ability with confidence handling multiple deadlines and competing priorities accurately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level correspondence and presentation preparation.
  • High level of judgment and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
  • Advanced ability with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Collaborative, service-focused interpersonal style.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and solve problems proactively.
  • Prior experience coordinating across internal teams and external partner organizations preferred.
  • Experience using Workday or a comparable ERP system preferred.
  • Excellent project management and critical thinking skills.
  • Capability to remain stationary for long periods, adapt quickly to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Comfort communicating effectively in person and through digital formats.
  • Ability to interact regularly with coworkers and/or the public, make independent decisions, and work in a collaborative environment with frequent interruptions.

Benefits and perks

  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid time off.
  • Eligibility for employee incentive plans.
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support.
  • Perks and discounts.
  • Access to on-site and online exercise classes.
