Excavator Operator – Auckland/Queenstown

Position Overview

Ross Reid Limited is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to become a valued member of our family-centered company. This role entails overseeing and operating a variety of machinery engaged in earthworks, land development, and civil infrastructure projects located primarily within Auckland and Queenstown regions.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate machinery including motor scrapers, graders (615, 623, 631, 637), excavators ranging from 2 to 80 tonnes, dozers (D4 to D10), and 730/740 Cat ADTs on various construction sites.
• Carry out erosion and sediment control measures.
• Perform shear key and bulk earthworks, trenching, and precision trimming to achieve finalized surface levels.
• Maintain and assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of equipment and work areas as directed by supervisors or managers.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a minimum of three years of hands-on experience operating machinery on earthmoving sites.
• Hold a valid driver's license.
• Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and adhere to the company's substance policies.
• Be willing to work in various weather conditions, including weekends (Saturdays).
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently with a proactive attitude.
• Have a sound understanding of safe work practices within earthworks and civil environments.
• Make informed decisions efficiently and be eager to assist others and acquire new skills.
• Possess or be willing to learn operations beyond general duties.
