Role overview

This remote contract role is suited to a domain specialist in phylogenetics and evolutionary biology who can help build high-quality training data for advanced large language models. The work involves creating demanding scientific problems that test model reasoning across evolutionary biology, genomics, and related computational life sciences.

What you'll do

• Develop subject-matter content that supports the creation of strong datasets for model training and evaluation.
• Author difficult phylogenetics and evolutionary biology questions designed to stretch model performance.
• Contribute to projects connected to evolutionary biology, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, and other life-sciences disciplines.
• Work independently in a fully remote setup with flexible timing.
• Take part in an interview and a short evaluation task during onboarding.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in phylogenetics, evolutionary biology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, or ecology and evolution.
• Ability to produce scientifically rigorous and clearly organized problem sets.
• Excellent attention to detail in all outputs.
• Capability to add domain insight that improves model reasoning on complex biology topics.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for technical discussions and feedback.

Compensation and engagement

The role pays $55 to $80 per hour on a contract basis. Payments are made weekly through Stripe or Wise. The engagement is remote, and schedules can be arranged flexibly. Contract work may be extended depending on project requirements and performance.
