Job description

Company overview

Flagship Events Company Ltd is a premium event hire business delivering high-end event solutions throughout New Zealand. With operations in Hawke’s Bay, Central Otago, and Auckland, the company is known for stylish weddings and events, a strong focus on workmanship, and careful attention to detail. It also holds the exclusive New Zealand rights to Sperry Tents from Massachusetts, USA, and supplies an extensive selection of premium hire products, lighting systems, and custom hardwood flooring.

Role overview

The Event Foreman – North Island is a full-time, on-site position based in Hastings. The role is responsible for leading the installation and dismantling of premium event infrastructure, including Sperry tents, hardwood flooring, lighting, and related hire equipment. The position plays a key part in maintaining Flagship’s standards for quality, safety, and efficient delivery across events in the North Island.

What you will do

In this role, you will coordinate and supervise crew members, manage site logistics, and work closely with operations personnel. Where needed, you will also communicate with clients and venue representatives. Daily duties include organising equipment and vehicles, guiding the use of heavy machinery, carrying out basic carpentry and maintenance tasks, and making sure site plans and event timelines are followed. The job involves practical, hands-on work outdoors in changing conditions.

Skills and experience required

Applicants should bring proven leadership ability, experience in event setups, construction, marquee or tent installation, or a similar environment, and confidence working with tools and heavy equipment. The role also calls for strong communication, safe work practices, basic to intermediate carpentry knowledge, general maintenance skills, and a sharp eye for detail. Problem-solving ability and a commitment to high-quality event execution are important. A full, clean driver’s licence is required, and experience towing trailers or trucks would be an advantage.

Working conditions

This is a physically demanding position that requires full-time availability, outdoor work, and travel across the North Island as needed.
