Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Possess 2 to 3 years of practical experience in ETL, Data Warehouse, and Data Migration testing.
- Perform validation of ETL and Data Warehouse testing procedures ensuring data completeness and accuracy.
- Analyze Data Mapping documents to develop comprehensive test cases, test plans, and advanced SQL queries.
- Ensure data quality by identifying discrepancies, documenting them, collaborating with developers for rectification, and re-testing.
- Create and maintain automated testing scripts to support continuous testing efforts.
- Produce detailed test reports highlighting risks, issues, and overall testing outcomes.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of various testing cycles and software release processes alongside strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Define and monitor quality assurance metrics including defect tracking, test results, and status reports.
- Experience working within Waterfall and Agile software development methodologies.
- Possess hands-on experience with relational databases and their architecture, including interpretation of data models and entity-relationship diagrams.
- Understand dimensional modeling and data warehouse concepts such as star schemas, snowflake schemas, dimensions, and fact tables.
Preferred Skills and Technologies
- Hands-on expertise in ETL and data warehouse testing.
- Proficiency in SQL, UNIX, and Python scripting.
- Knowledge of big data technologies like HDFS and Cloudera HIVE.
- Experience with business intelligence reporting tools.
- Familiarity with IBM DB2, Cloudera HIVE, SQL Server, and Teradata SQL Assistant.
- Exposure to ETL tools such as IICS, Informatica, DataStage, or ODI.
