Role Overview
We are looking for an Estimator to prepare tender costings for construction projects to ensure that bids remain competitive. This position is located at our Manchester office with a blend of remote and on-site work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for fit out projects within controlled environments.
- Manage distribution of tender documents and their amendments to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure thorough implementation of tendering processes.
- Address inquiries from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Collaborate with clients and design teams during the tender process and organize meetings as necessary.
- Analyze scope for design alternatives and perform value engineering with bid team members.
- Present bids at adjudication meetings and highlight any areas of concern or risk.
- Participate in handover meetings to brief teams on tender outcomes.
- Maintain and refresh the supply chain in alignment with procurement and construction schedules.
- Build and nurture client and specifier relationships to boost tender opportunities and improve margins.
- Prepare contract sum analysis and scheduling when required.
- Take part in post-tender negotiations with clients.
- Conduct project debriefs to gather feedback and drive continual improvements.
- Identify and assess risks involved in projects.
Candidate Profile
- At least five years' estimating experience, preferably with fit out projects.
- Experience with data centre or cleanroom projects is advantageous, though expertise in ceilings, partitions, or drywall estimating is also considered.
- Knowledge of contract documentation and construction materials.
- Understanding of construction methods and relevant technologies.
- Competency in pricing strategy and negotiation.
