About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Estimator to develop precise project cost estimates following company standards and timeframes. This role is crucial to ensuring projects stay within budget and successful delivery of AusNet's annual CAPEX portfolio.

Working closely with Engineers, Project Managers, Procurement, and other experts, you will ensure estimates align with current market rates and construction methods. This permanent full-time opportunity is based in Southbank, Melbourne, combining office and work-from-home arrangements as part of our Network Operations & Delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects initiated by the company and its customers.
  • Leverage project delivery expertise to produce accurate estimates.
  • Maintain and update cost estimation libraries with current rates and labor hours.
  • Communicate project estimates effectively to stakeholders during governance processes, including reviews and challenge sessions.
  • Incorporate insights from post-implementation reviews of completed projects to refine future estimates.
  • Assist with Requests for Information throughout project lifecycles as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in project cost estimation, including the development of detailed bottom-up estimates.
  • Familiarity with the components of project cost estimates, covering both direct and indirect expenses.
  • Experience with Expert Estimation software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of broader project delivery stages such as design, construction, and commissioning is highly advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
