About the company

The employer is a well-established business operating between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, delivering process cooling systems and mechanical services to sectors including power generation, petrochemicals, resources, and sugar. Due to continued growth supported by their engineering strength, they are hiring for a newly created Estimator position.

About the role

This position works closely with Project Management, Estimating, and Finance teams to keep budgets, costs, and schedules under tight control. Strong Excel skills are essential, as the role involves preparing accurate estimates, forecasts, and financial reporting. The goal is to help ensure projects are completed on schedule, stay within budget, and satisfy client expectations.

Key responsibilities

  • Build, update, and monitor detailed cost estimates and projections across several projects.
  • Assist with tender submissions by producing reliable pricing and procurement plans.
  • Handle client billing, subcontractor progress claims, and changes to project scope.
  • Oversee procurement tasks to support efficient and cost-conscious project delivery.
  • Compile and deliver progress updates, cost summaries, and detailed financial information to stakeholders.
  • Work with teams on project timelines and make sure milestones stay aligned with financial targets.
  • Contribute to project controls, including earned value tracking and cost management systems.

What the employer is looking for

  • Advanced MS Excel capability, along with solid practical experience across the MS Office suite.
  • At least 5 years of experience in estimating, project controls, or cost control; experience in maintenance and construction environments is an advantage.
  • Hands-on use of project control methods such as earned value management and tools like MS Project.
  • Previous experience with cost control platforms, including Schedule of Rates and Cost Plus projects.
  • Strong accuracy, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Why this opportunity stands out

You’ll join a collaborative team that focuses on innovative, tailored solutions. In this Estimator role, you will contribute directly to project delivery and play an important part in the company’s ongoing expansion.
