Job description
Overview
This position is for an Estimator Quantity Surveyor focused on large infrastructure programs. The role centers on producing pre-contract cost estimates, preparing bills of quantities, and assembling tender documents, while also contributing to procurement planning, market intelligence, and cost/risk evaluation to keep projects commercially efficient and aligned with project goals.
What you will do
- Take charge of developing pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans, and benchmarking outputs for major infrastructure work.
- Prepare and maintain bills of quantities and pre-tender estimates using CESSM and other relevant industry methods and standards.
- Assist with procurement planning, including work packaging, tender processes, and contract setup.
- Work closely with different disciplines to make sure design intentions and cost targets stay aligned.
- Draft and review tender packs, covering pricing schedules and contractual terms.
- Analyze market conditions and interact with suppliers and the supply chain to support cost data and procurement decisions.
- Support risk management, value engineering, and cost control activities.
- Help identify commercial risks, assess them, and develop appropriate responses.
- Attend and contribute to commercial meetings.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in the Middle East. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field is required. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities are important, along with solid English technical writing skills and a strong project background. Experience in pre-contract quantity surveying for infrastructure and civil engineering projects, especially masterplanning, is expected; prior exposure to major international events such as expos, sports events, or cultural festivals is preferred. The role also requires the ability to perform well in a fast-moving, client-facing environment.
