Role overview
This position focuses on estimating for structural steelwork projects in Bristol, United Kingdom. The Estimator will play an important role in helping win and deliver work across multiple sectors by building accurate, competitive tender submissions and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders from the early stages of a project.
Key responsibilities
- Develop precise cost plans and tender documents for structural steelwork assignments.
- Examine technical drawings, specifications, and supporting project papers.
- Measure steelwork scopes and calculate labour, materials, and subcontractor pricing.
- Request, compare, and assess pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Work with clients, architects, engineers, and project teams during the tender phase.
- Spot risks, opportunities, and ways to add value through smarter design or methods.
- Assist with transition and handover to delivery teams once bids are successful.
- Keep tender files and estimating records organised and accurate.
Candidate profile
The client is looking for someone with prior estimating experience in the structural steelwork sector, along with the ability to interpret fabrication and engineering drawings confidently. A solid understanding of steel fabrication and erection methods is important, as is the ability to prepare commercially strong tenders and manage several opportunities at once.
