Role Summary

The Estimator for Joinery Works is pivotal in creating precise cost evaluations, material quantifications, and commercial proposals for joinery and interior fit-out initiatives. These projects encompass kitchens, wardrobes, cabinets, vanity units, wooden doors, and customized furniture pieces. The role entails supporting bidding activities and project execution by interpreting technical drawings, project specifications, and production needs and applying market pricing insights to produce competitive and profitable submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Critically analyze tender documents, drawings, and BOQs related to joinery and fit-out projects.
• Calculate comprehensive quantity take-offs and cost estimates for kitchen units, wardrobes, cabinetry, wooden doors, wall cladding, and bespoke furniture.
• Determine expenses encompassing materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Compile detailed BOQs, material cost breakdowns, and pricing structures.
• Collaborate closely with design, production, procurement, and operations teams to ensure the accuracy of estimations and support execution planning.
• Request, assess, and compare quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure timely submission of precise estimates aligned with corporate standards and tender deadlines.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering to reduce costs without compromising quality.
• Maintain updated records of material costs, supplier contacts, and estimation templates.
• Assist in the project handover phase after contract award.
• Support commercial and management teams through clarification meetings and technical discussions as needed.
• Prepare detailed estimation reports and commercial summaries for leadership review.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience in joinery or fit-out cost estimation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of joinery materials, hardware components, and production processes.
• Proven track record in estimating cabinetry, kitchens, wardrobes, and custom furniture projects.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications proficiently.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and estimation or ERP software.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing and installation workflows.
• Strong analytical thinking and numerical abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Capacity to thrive under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
