Role overview
Troy Life & Fire Safety Ltd. is seeking an experienced Estimator for its Kelowna branch. This is an in-office position focused on sprinkler project estimating across both smaller and larger contracts, along with project management responsibilities for all awarded work.
The company is a major Canadian provider of fire alarm, fire suppression, security, nurse call, and communications systems. Key responsibilities
The role involves preparing quotations, supporting tender activity, coordinating project details, and helping ensure projects are delivered profitably and successfully.
- Develop pricing and quotations for property owners, contractors, and tender opportunities.
- Prepare pre-qualification paperwork, review project drawings and specifications, write proposals, and help secure purchase orders and contracts.
- Visit sites as needed and maintain communication with consultants, engineers, general contractors, site supervisors, and other trades.
- Organize drawings, material takeoffs, safety plans, and field installation requirements with site crews.
- Manage coordination of design, materials, labour, subcontractors, and change orders.
- Oversee projects through to successful and financially sound completion.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a post-secondary diploma in Fire Protection, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A 427A Sprinkler Fitter Certificate is considered an advantage.
The employer is looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in the fire protection industry in areas such as design, installation, sales, or project management, plus 5 years of experience preparing quotes for large sprinkler construction projects. Strong organization and the ability to work well with others are also important.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is CAD 70,000 to 90,000 per year.
