Job description

Role overview

Glanville Environmental is an established drainage and civil engineering business with more than 30 years of experience across the Southwest. As the company continues to grow through long-term contracts and an expanding client portfolio, it is looking for an experienced Estimator to support its busy pre-construction activity.

This position is based in South West England and offers a competitive salary package.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing scopes and pricing for infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on drinking water works and some wastewater assignments delivered across the Southwest for major framework clients such as South West Water and Wessex Water.
  • Taking an active role in pre-construction delivery by helping assemble the required documentation needed for successful bids and project wins.
  • Managing and developing several projects within your portfolio, using framework rates, first-principles estimating, agreement preambles, and NEC 4 contract guidance to support accurate forecasting and delivery.
  • Making sure all pre-construction obligations are completed correctly, including CDM requirements and any documentation specified by the client.
  • Working alongside a skilled team to produce competitive, carefully calculated quotations for repair and maintenance work using both contract rates and core estimating methods.
  • Communicating with both existing and potential clients, responding to their requirements and helping support the company’s growth.
  • Receiving job and pricing enquiries, collecting the necessary information, and entering it into management systems to keep operations moving efficiently.
  • Helping maintain and improve internal systems so the wider team can carry out day-to-day tasks smoothly.

What we're looking for

  • Strong confidence using computer systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Comfort working with client systems for data entry and analysis to support audits and future pricing activity.
  • Previous experience in utilities, particularly water or sewage, is essential.
  • Exposure to the water utility sector, especially public or private sewer networks, would be highly beneficial.
  • A self-driven approach with the ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively in a team.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment while helping the business meet key contract KPIs.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and other contract forms would be an advantage.
  • Experience in civil engineering and drainage is required.
  • A positive, adaptable mindset with the ability to motivate yourself and others, especially when working to demanding deadlines.
  • Willingness to embrace new ideas and help improve how the industry works through innovation.

Benefits and extra information

  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay and leave.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Bupa healthcare cover.
  • Refer-a-friend scheme.
  • Training support and career development opportunities.
