UCC Trading & Contracting operates as a premier EPC contractor in the region, executing large-scale projects within Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical, Power, Utilities, and Industrial sectors. As we expand, we invite an experienced Estimation & Tendering Director to spearhead our pre-contract, bidding, and commercial strategy efforts across key EPC projects.
Role Overview
The Estimation & Tendering Director will lead all estimation, tendering, and bid management initiatives within UCC's EPC portfolio. This leadership role involves creating effective winning strategies, supervising the preparation of commercial and technical proposals, managing tenders of considerable magnitude, and facilitating successful contract acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all estimation and tendering operations for significant EPC opportunities.
- Formulate bid strategies consistent with the company's growth goals.
- Approve technical and commercial deliverables prior to submission to clients.
- Manage bid/no-bid decisions and oversee tender governance procedures.
- Lead preparation and verification of cost estimates, price models, and commercial proposals.
- Ensure bids are competitive, accurate, and adjusted for risks.
- Oversee commercial assessments, contract reviews, and clarification processes.
- Champion value engineering and cost optimization efforts.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary bid teams spanning Engineering, Procurement, Planning, Commercial, Contracts, and Operations.
- Guarantee timely submission of quality proposals both technical and commercial.
- Represent the company in high-level client presentations, negotiations, and clarification discussions.
- Engage with clients, partners, consultants, and senior stakeholders as the executive interface.
- Support strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and consortium bids.
- Provide executive leadership with updates and strategic advice on the bid pipeline.
- Analyze contracts including EPC, EPCM, Design & Build, and those based on FIDIC standards.
- Identify commercial, contractual, and execution risks during tender phases and devise mitigating strategies.
- Lead and develop teams comprising Estimation, Tendering, Proposal, and Commercial Managers.
- Implement best practices, governance, and continual enhancements in bid management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; a Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or similar fields is preferred.
- Professional certifications add value.
- A minimum of 18 to 20 years in estimation, tendering, proposal management, or commercial leadership roles.
- Demonstrated leadership of estimation and tendering at major international EPC or construction firms.
- Significant experience in bidding for Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical, Refinery, Power Generation, Energy, and Utility projects.
- In-depth understanding of Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream sectors.
- Solid track record of winning major EPC contracts.
- Experience working on GCC and global projects is highly desirable.
Technical & Core Competencies
- Expertise in EPC tendering and bid management processes.
- Proficiency in cost estimation, commercial evaluation, and financial modeling.
- Contract management skills, particularly with FIDIC, EPC, and EPCM contracts.
- Strategic planning of bids and risk assessments including value engineering.
- Strong negotiating abilities and commercial acumen.
- Executive-level reporting and decision-making support.
- Capable leadership fostering team development and governance standards.
- Deep knowledge of Oil & Gas and energy sectors and business growth strategies.
