Escalator Cleaner Technician

Role Overview

The Escalator Cleaner Technician is tasked with keeping escalators and the nearby work areas clean, orderly, and safe so the site maintains a professional appearance. This position calls for strong safety habits, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work with limited supervision. Work is mainly performed during overnight hours.

Core Duties

• Use approved tools, equipment, and cleaning products to service escalators.
• Clear away dirt, debris, grease, and other buildup from escalator surfaces.
• Prepare cleaning chemicals by following manufacturer directions and safety requirements for proper mixing and dilution.
• Move cleaning materials and equipment around the facility as needed.
• Work with facility operations staff to temporarily shut down escalators for cleaning and then return them to service.
• Leave surrounding spaces clean, tidy, and safe after the work is finished.
• Comply with all company safety rules, procedures, and standard work practices.
• Promptly escalate any safety issues, equipment problems, or hazards to a supervisor.
• Finish assigned routes and cleaning tasks within scheduled shifts.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ability to repeatedly lift and carry more than 50 pounds during an 8-hour shift.
• At least 2 years of experience in cleaning, custodial work, or equipment operation is preferred.
• Must be able to work on your own and complete assignments with little oversight.
• Strong eye for detail and a consistent focus on quality.
• Proven commitment to safe work habits and following established procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work overnight schedules consistently.

Physical Demands

• Requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Frequent handling and movement of cleaning tools, supplies, and equipment.
• Work is performed in a fast-moving environment while still maintaining safe practices.
• Continuous situational and safety awareness is essential.

Safety Expectations

Safety is a critical part of this role. Team members are expected to follow all safety policies, use equipment properly and as trained, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), identify hazards, report them right away, and stay focused on creating a safe environment for themselves and others.
