Job description

About the role

Finagra is looking for a single in-house ERPNext Product Owner to coordinate the platform across business teams, developers, and outside implementation partners. This person will own the product backlog, set priorities, maintain configuration quality, and help drive successful rollouts in both Kenya and India.

ERPNext is Finagra’s central system for procurement, inventory, sales, finance, and accounting. The company has already deployed it in Kenya and is preparing to launch it in India as well. In addition, the business is assessing ERPNext as a possible replacement for its existing agronomic operations software.

What the role is responsible for

The Product Owner will be measured by the business value ERPNext delivers, the success of new-country deployments, adoption by users, the quality of requirements gathered, and the ability to turn process automation into measurable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Map business workflows and turn them into structured customer journey maps.
  • Break down business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Create, organise, and continuously refine a prioritised ERPNext backlog.
  • Work closely with external integrators to coordinate development delivery.
  • Support the current Kenya deployment and improve it over time.
  • Plan, organise, and execute the ERPNext rollout in India.
  • Assess whether the platform can also be extended to manage agronomic field operations.
  • Oversee integrations with other external systems.
  • Collect, clarify, and document requirements from supply chain, finance, operations, agronomy, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Lead UAT activities, including test scenarios, test cases, documentation, and final sign-off.
  • Create training content and train end users.
  • Review and coordinate customisations such as client scripts, server scripts, and print formats.
  • Work with business and IT teams to define roles and access permissions.

Required experience and qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Product Owner on ERP implementation initiatives.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with ERPNext; familiarity with the Frappe ecosystem is a strong advantage.
  • Solid understanding of essential business functions, including procurement, inventory, sales, CRM, project management, finance, and accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to write requirements, user stories, and UAT scenarios.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Additional strengths

  • Exposure to agribusiness or agricultural supply chains.
  • Experience working in Kenya or India, including awareness of local compliance needs such as KRA, GST, and TDS.
  • Basic knowledge of Python and SQL for reports and customisations.
  • Experience with mobile payment integrations.
  • Familiarity with task tracking tools such as Jira, Monday.com, or Notion.

Core competencies

  • ERP product ownership and backlog control.
  • Business process design and requirements engineering.
  • Cross-functional stakeholder coordination.
  • UAT planning, execution, and documentation.
  • Clear communication and user enablement.

Interested candidates should send a CV and a short cover letter of no more than 300 words to hiring@finagra.com. Use the subject line: “ERPNext Product Owner — [Your Name]”. In the cover letter, include one ERP implementation or product project you personally led and explain the outcome.
