Role Overview

Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) is seeking committed and professional Environmental Enforcement Officers to join their team in Doncaster. This role involves active, on-the-ground engagement where officers conduct foot patrols, identify environmental violations, and issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) to the public.

WISE partners with local councils across the UK to address environmental crimes such as littering, fly-tipping, dog fouling, and breach of duty of care. Combining seasoned expertise, dedicated officers, and modern technology, WISE ensures fair, impactful, and transparent enforcement that contributes to cleaner and safer communities.

Typical Daily Activities

  • Patrolling busy town centres, high-traffic commercial areas, and residential neighborhoods on foot.
  • Detecting offenses including littering, dog fouling, and illegal dumping.
  • Confidently and courteously approaching offenders to explain violations and issue penalties.
  • Raising public awareness about environmental responsibilities.
  • Documenting evidence, statements, and reports accurately using company systems.
  • Working autonomously with support from the enforcement team and supervisors.

Most work takes place outdoors with regular interaction with the public requiring resilience, professionalism, and excellent communication skills.

Candidate Requirements

  • Excellent communication abilities and a confident, professional demeanor.
  • Resilience and capability to manage difficult conversations calmly.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Competent with basic IT skills, especially report writing.
  • Dependable, proactive, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work independently.
  • Possession of a driving license is advantageous but not mandatory.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

  • Permanent full-time contract with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour.
  • 40 hours per week, with shifts spanning Monday through Sunday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., including occasional weekends.
  • 28 days of annual leave inclusive of bank holidays.
