About Chanelle Pharma and the Role

Chanelle Pharma aims to become a leading global supplier of high-quality and competitively priced pharmaceutical products, offering exceptional services and support to customers. We are currently seeking a seasoned Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and enhance our EHS program at our Loughrea manufacturing site.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of the EHS strategy in alignment with Chanelle Pharma's overarching 'Winning Formula' and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Oversee EH&S compliance audits and manage the EHS plan across all company sites.
  • Maintain and update the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to monitor and reduce environmental impacts stemming from company operations.
  • Lead the Risk Management program by identifying and assessing potential hazards, devising strategies to mitigate risks, and ensuring ongoing adherence to safety protocols and standards.
  • Supervise and nurture a team of EHS specialists, fostering their continued professional development.
  • Manage on-site Occupational Health services, ensuring full compliance with health regulations, advocating employee well-being, and implementing proactive health surveillance including ergonomic and workspace assessments.
  • Head the emergency response program with regular drills and plan evaluations to comply with best practices and regulations.
  • Act as the company’s representative during audits and site visits by regulatory authorities such as HSA, Uisce Éireann, Insurers, Repak, and customers.
  • Keep management updated on EHS performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Administer incident and accident reporting processes, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee preventative actions.
  • Execute projects and assignments as delegated by the General Manager.
  • Maintain EH&S procedures and ensure all legal compliance requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement a company-wide EHS training and communication strategy to support compliance and safety awareness.
  • Ensure maintenance of a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) compliance program.
  • Verify that contractor safety protocols are enforced according to company standards.
  • Contribute to Chanelle’s Sustainability program including Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) reporting efforts to fulfill sustainability goals.
  • Provide EH&S performance data and updates to the Board and Senior Management.

Required Experience and Skills

  • At minimum, eight years of experience in EHS management, ideally within a manufacturing context.
  • At least four to five years' experience specifically in Pharmaceutical or GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities combined with in-depth regulatory knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety standards relevant to chemical manufacturing.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in project management and chemical safety protocols.

Educational Qualifications

  • Level 8 degree in Health & Safety or Environmental discipline is required.
  • Occupational Health and Safety qualification is highly desirable.
