Role Overview

GEO Morphix Ltd. is seeking an Environmental Field Technician and Inspector to support construction and restoration work through field inspections, environmental oversight, and restoration implementation checks. The position focuses on erosion and sediment control inspections, review of construction activities against design requirements, and field support across local and remote locations, including watercourse and wetland work, channel stabilization, shoreline protection, coastal erosion, and stormwater outfalls. The role also involves supporting assignments at a remote mine site in Northern Ontario.

Position Details

  • Compensation: $26.00 to $32.00 per hour, with the possibility of pay above this range for candidates who bring substantial directly relevant experience, specialized certifications, or demonstrated capability.
  • Minimum hours: 40 hours each week.
  • Work setup: Timmins, Ontario, remote.
  • Head office: 36 Main Street N, Campbellville, ON, L0P 1B0.
  • Travel requirement: Frequent travel to remote mine sites in Northern Ontario is expected.
  • Department: Construction Services.

Key Duties

  • Assist with construction oversight at a remote mine site in Northern Ontario.
  • Check that work is being completed in line with drawings and contract requirements.
  • Read and apply information from design drawings and technical specifications.
  • Review quality control information, confirm quantities, prepare progress updates, and keep written and photo records.
  • Contribute to water quality and environmental monitoring activities.
  • Participate in construction progress meetings.
  • Help ensure work follows permit terms, contract standards, and technical specifications.
  • Work with the contract administrator and/or project manager to address construction-related issues.
  • Identify, record, and report environmental issues, deficiencies, and non-compliance.
  • Provide technical assistance for data interpretation and report drafting on different projects.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and detail.
  • Work with internal team members, clients, consulting partners, and permitting agencies.
  • Complete other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in environmental science or technology, water or earth resources, geology, geography, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • CAN-CISEC certification, or the ability to complete the required training and demonstrate strong competence in inspecting and reporting on ESC plan implementation.
  • Availability for regular multi-day travel across Northern Ontario for inspections, client meetings, and project work.
  • Hands-on experience applying and correcting erosion and sediment control measures, documenting deficiencies, and managing effluent containment during construction.
  • Ability to understand construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, inspection processes, and related techniques is considered an advantage.
  • Capability and willingness to verify contractor compliance with contract documents, specifications, and permit conditions.
  • Interest in working and traveling to remote sites in Northern Ontario.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication, and people skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational ability.
  • Clear criminal record check.
  • Valid Ontario G driver’s license.
