Job description
Role overview
Nesma Infrastructure and Technology is hiring an Environmental Coordinator for its QEHSS department in the Environment unit, based in Riyadh and Jubail. This role focuses on making sure environmental management practices are implemented consistently across projects and operations, while meeting Saudi regulations, client expectations, and internal standards.
Key working relationships
The position works closely with NIT department heads and internal teams as needed under the reporting structure and delegated authority. It also involves coordination with relevant external stakeholders and service providers where required.
What you will do
- Oversee environmental compliance against Saudi legal requirements, client obligations, and the company’s integrated management system standards.
- Help roll out and maintain the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 and internal procedures.
- Carry out environmental risk reviews for project activities and ensure controls and mitigation steps are defined and applied.
- Draft and submit routine environmental compliance updates for clients and management.
- Contribute to the creation, review, and continuous refinement of environmental procedures, SOPs, and related records.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, consultants, and contractors to maintain compliance throughout all project stages.
- Support internal and external environmental audits and follow through on corrective actions until closure.
- Help build environmental awareness through training, toolbox talks, and presentations.
- Keep environmental documentation accurate and well-controlled.
- Assist with IMS certification activities and ensure processes remain aligned with applicable standards and regulations.
- Help address environmental findings raised during inspections, audits, or client reviews.
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the line manager.
Skills and knowledge needed
Strong familiarity with ISO 14001 environmental management systems is required, along with a solid understanding of Saudi environmental compliance rules. The role also calls for experience in environmental risk assessment, audit support, and reporting, plus practical use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent English communication, coordination, organization, time management, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement skills are important, as is the ability to manage pressure, multiple priorities, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline is required. The company prefers candidates with professional certifications such as ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or an equivalent qualification. Prior approval or accreditation with organizations such as SEC or NEOM is considered a strong advantage. Applicants should have 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in environmental management or EHS-related roles.
