Position Details

• Grade 14 position located at the MDE's Air and Radiation Administration in Baltimore, MD.
• Work involves field inspections under variable and potentially challenging environmental conditions, including exposure to odors, dust, noise, heat, and physical demands such as lifting and ladder climbing.
• Compliance with safety protocols and use of protective equipment is required during site visits.
• Drivers must maintain a Maryland-valid driver's license with limited points and may need to provide driving records if licensed out of state.

Minimum Qualifications

• Four years of inspection or investigative experience related to governmental regulatory compliance.
• Alternatives to experience include college credit substitutions or relevant bachelor's degrees, as well as applicable U.S. military service years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in air-related chemical, biological, and environmental sciences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for detailed reporting and stakeholder interaction.
• Experience with environmental monitoring, field sampling, compliance auditing, or understanding of environmental regulations.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license, as operating state vehicles may be expected.
• Potentially required certification or license specific to environmental compliance areas.

Special Requirements and Working Conditions

• Availability for call-in duty and ability to provide reachable contact information.
• Exposure to uncomfortable, hazardous environments including steam boilers, high pressure steam, and physically demanding tasks.
