Role Overview

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager position at Birds Eye, Naas site, involves leading the drive for compliance and fostering an effective EHS culture in alignment with company, customer, and legal mandates. This role is integral to the site management team and demands active promotion of safety and environmental standards alongside monitoring performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the champion for health, safety, and environmental management on-site, cultivating a continuously improving safety culture among all staff.
  • Integrate EHS key performance indicators into the site’s overall performance reporting.
  • Function as the expert authority on health, safety, environmental, and employer liability claims matters.
  • Drive year-on-year improvements in reducing accidents and managing near misses while enhancing employers’ liability claims outcomes.
  • Contribute to the corporate audit program by conducting audits across different business units.
  • Implement and uphold internal health, safety, and environmental policies and standards.
  • Act as primary liaison with regulatory agencies and emergency responders.
  • Manage budgets for environmental initiatives, including staffing and chemical expenses, as well as health and safety-related budget items such as training, capital expenditures, and waste management.
  • Participate in site management team efforts to develop and execute the EHS strategy leading to continuous enhancement.
  • Provide monthly accident and site compliance reporting to the division and track adherence to group standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local laws, group policies, and customer requirements concerning environmental and safety standards.
  • Lead the development of a compelling EHS vision and strategy tailored to the site’s unique needs.
  • Foster inclusive safety cultures among employees and contractors alike.
  • Devise strategies and organize work processes to minimize health and safety risks, recommending adjustments to equipment and operations as needed.
