English Supervisor

Role Overview

The English Supervisor collaborates closely with teaching staff and school leadership to uphold exemplary education standards, promoting enhanced student performance and achievements in the English subject domain.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Senior Leadership Team in maintaining excellence in curriculum implementation and teaching methodologies.
• Coordinates the teaching and learning activities related to English.
• Leads regular departmental meetings and ensures accurate recording and archiving of minutes.
• Monitors classroom teaching, providing constructive feedback to foster effective instructional practices.
• Produces regular reports for the Head of School and associated authorities regarding curriculum status and instructional quality.
• Conducts periodic and annual performance evaluations for department staff.
• Contributes to curriculum review, book evaluations, and curriculum design initiatives.
• Mentors new staff and identifies professional development requirements within the department.
• Involves in setting and revising instructional objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Oversees examination paper verification, marking scheme coordination, and assessment moderation.
• Analyzes student performance data to inform instructional strategies for English.
• Ensures timely procurement of teaching materials, textbooks, and resources necessary for effective instruction.
• Advises on staff retention and termination based on performance assessments.
• Performs teaching duties as required and carries out other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; a Master's degree in English or related field preferred.
• At least six years of teaching experience, ideally spanning multiple educational phases.
