English Literature and Language Tutor - Riyadh, VVIP Client

Role Overview

This is a full-time residential tutoring position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, supporting an ultra-high-net-worth family. The tutor will provide individualised English Literature and English Language teaching for a student at KS3, KS4 and, where relevant, KS5 level. The role is based in the family home, with occasional travel within Saudi Arabia and possible international travel depending on the family’s plans.

The assignment is best matched to a UK-trained English teacher with a solid, continuous work history in respected UK schools or British international schools, along with strong exposure to Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel programmes.

The role reports to the Education Team Leader. Teaching will be delivered face to face at the residence, with lesson planning and delivery tailored to the student’s needs, pace and learning style.

Working hours are full time, 40 hours per week. The position is located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with travel as required. The expected start is ASAP.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high-quality one-to-one teaching in English Literature and English Language across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 experience considered an advantage.
• Support Mathematics teaching up to Key Stage 3 when needed.
• Create stimulating lesson resources that suit the student’s age and align with Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel requirements.
• Apply practical, engaging and experience-based teaching methods to keep lessons effective and interactive.
• Monitor learning through both ongoing checks and formal assessment tasks.
• Give clear written and verbal feedback, along with practical next-step guidance.
• Keep thorough records of progress, achievements and individual learning targets.
• Encourage analytical thinking, self-reliance, perseverance and a positive learning mindset.
• Spot any extra academic or learning support needs and respond appropriately.

Candidate Profile

• Strong specialism in English Literature and English Language, or Secondary Education, is essential.
• Substantial experience teaching KS3 and KS4, ideally KS5 as well, in UK schools or British international schools.
• Proven ability to adapt teaching for different needs and personalise learning effectively.
• Good working knowledge of UK and international curricula, with Pearson Edexcel preferred.
• Excellent communication skills for dealing with both the student and parents.
• Well-organised, confident and flexible in approach.
• Professional, discreet and able to maintain a high standard of conduct.
• Capable of travelling independently.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in English or a closely related subject is required.
• QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is required.
• At least 3 years of full-time post-qualification teaching experience is required.
• Experience teaching Pearson Edexcel in a UK or international environment is expected.
