About MDPI and the English Editor Role
MDPI stands as the world's largest open access publishing house, managing over 400 journals spanning various disciplines. Their mission is to advance open science and facilitate scholarly exchange globally by publishing rigorously peer-reviewed research. The English Editing Department ensures the manuscripts uphold clarity, coherence, and impeccable grammar before publication.
This role is an entry-level, full-time position based in Singapore, requiring onsite work. Successful candidates will undergo a probation period with dedicated in-house training guided by experienced editors. Post-probation, there are opportunities to broaden expertise and adopt varied responsibilities within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine scholarly articles submitted to MDPI journals, ensuring they meet publication standards.
- Utilize expertise in English language and academic writing nuances to clarify and correct manuscripts without altering the author's unique voice.
- Ensure compliance with MDPI's editorial standards and house style guidelines.
- Consistently meet strict deadlines and maintain target goals.
- Engage in additional duties, including training peers and editing corporate materials.
- Collaborate closely with Editorial and Production teams to streamline the editorial workflow.
Required Experience and Skills
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Comprehensive command of the English language.
- Background in editing, translating, or publishing work.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to operate both autonomously and as part of an international team.
- Authorization to work in Singapore.
Preferred Skills
- Professional experience related to academic research, editing, or publishing.
- Familiarity with LaTeX document preparation system.
- Previous experience in office-based roles.
